NBSAP

National Biodiversity Strategy Action Plan (NBSAP) Overview
National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan is a national policy document developed by countries to protect biodiversity and manage natural resources sustainably. It outlines the strategies, priorities and actions a country will take to conserve plants, animals, ecosystems and genetic resources.

The Tuvalu National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) was established in 2012 to guide the conservation and sustainable management of Tuvalu’s unique biodiversity. Developed in line with the commitments under the Convention on Biological Diversity, the strategy outlines national priorities and actions to protect ecosystems, native species and natural resources across the country.

The Tuvalu NBSAP is important because it provides a clear framework for government, communities, and partners to work together in addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, invasive species, and habitat loss. It also promotes sustainable use of biodiversity to support livelihoods, food security, and the wellbeing of present and future generations in Tuvalu
