Biodiversity
The Biodiversity Unit protects and nurtures Tuvalu’s unique land and marine life. From conserving native species to managing ecosystems and tackling invasive threats, the unit ensures Tuvalu’s natural heritage thrives for generations to come.

Tuvalu is a party to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), an international treaty established in 1992 to conserve the world’s biological diversity, promote sustainable use of its components, and ensure fair sharing of benefits from genetic resources.
“Tuvalu’s strength lies in its rich biodiversity, from vibrant reefs to native plants, which sustains our communities, protects our shores, and shapes our future.”
