Information, Knowledge, and Management

About the Role

The Information, Knowledge, and Management Officer (IKMO) is responsible for strengthening information management, knowledge sharing, communication, and public access to environmental information within the Department of Environment.

The role supports the collection, organization, storage, analysis, and dissemination of environmental information to support informed decision-making, policy development, project implementation, and public awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Information Management

  • Maintain and organize environmental records, reports, and databases.
  • Ensure accurate and timely management of environmental information.
  • Support digital recordkeeping and document management systems.
  • Facilitate access to environmental information for stakeholders.

Knowledge Management

  • Capture lessons learned and best practices from environmental programmes and projects.
  • Develop knowledge products, publications, and information resources.
  • Promote knowledge sharing within the Department and among partners.
  • Support institutional memory and information preservation.

Communication and Outreach

  • Manage environmental information published through the Department’s website and social media platforms.
  • Prepare newsletters, reports, factsheets, and awareness materials.
  • Support public education and environmental awareness campaigns.
  • Assist in communicating environmental policies, regulations, and initiatives to the public.

Data and Reporting

  • Support environmental data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintain databases related to biodiversity, climate change, waste management, EIA, and other environmental programmes.
  • Contribute to national, regional, and international environmental reporting obligations.

Website and Digital Services

  • Maintain and update the Department of Environment website.
  • Ensure online resources are current, accurate, and accessible.
  • Manage publication of environmental reports, legislation, forms, and guidance materials.
